St Ninian’s Isle and its sand tombolo is a unique and beautiful location with great historical, religious and scenic importance. It is located on the west coast of the South Mainland of Shetland in the district of Bigton.  It was here the famous St. Ninian’s Isle treasure was found in 1958 hidden beneath the floor of an early Christian Church. A hoard of silver hidden from the Vikings.  A walk around the cliffs will take you close up to many of Shetland's sea bird species.
